Business ideas can present themselves to you in ways you don’t expect.
Fun Mail For Kids is one of those stories.
As a grandparent (my name is Papa P), I tried to help out my wife taking care of my then 2-year old grandson, Eli, while his parents were at work.
Sometimes the days get a little long.
You’re always looking for some way to pass the time and have some fun.
Maybe even start a new ritual that a 2-year old might enjoy.
Ever since I was little many, many decades ago, I always enjoyed receiving mail.
Of course, I’m talking good old-fashioned mail…the kind you get in your mailbox and not the newer electronic version.
Fun Mail In The Mailbox
There’s just something special about waiting for the mail to arrive at your house.
You hear that mailbox close and you rush to see if you were lucky enough to get something fun in the mail that day.
One day I told Eli we were going down to the mailbox to check for mail.
On our first trip to the mailbox while walking down the driveway, I explained as best you can to a 2-year old that we would peek inside the mailbox to see if we got any mail.
There were a bunch of the usual items…ads, flyers and of course the dreaded monthly bills.
Those meant nothing at the time to a 2-year old, but he enjoyed carrying all the mail inside the house and showing it to everyone.
That started a daily trip that we enjoyed for years.
Eli loves getting mail with his name on it.
Even though he couldn’t read yet, I always let him know when he received some fun mail.
Now that he’s in school and recognizes his name in print, he loves it even more.
We’re also bringing up another fun mail lover.
His sister, Remi, fills in for Eli in getting the mail on the days he’s not around.
One thing about Eli though. He’s still a fan of all kinds of mail.
“Orange Fun Mail” Makes Eli Happy

There is a flyer that comes in the mail every Tuesday that is stuffed with advertisements.
On the outside of the flyer is an small orange shaded block with information on it.
Eli calls this his “orange mail.”
He recognizes a lot of the logos in his orange mail from local businesses.
He uses “orange mail” to make his own imaginary fun mail deliveries when he drives his play firetruck around the house or outside down to the corner.
I thought to myself…if one small child gets so much enjoyment from receiving fun mail, wouldn’t other children feel the same?
That led to the idea and creation of Fun Mail For Kids.
The feeling of excitement when kids receive their own mail is something no child should miss.
It’s also something no parent or grandparent, aunt or uncle should miss sharing with them.
They love holding special mail addressed to them in their little hands.
